Who we are
NovelPad (“we”, “us”) provides novel-writing software at novelpad.co and app.novelpad.co, and as a desktop application. Questions about this policy can be sent to [email protected].
What we collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and credentials, handled by our authentication service. We never see or store your password in plain text.
Your writing
Novels, scenes, notes, and related content you create are stored on our servers when you use cloud sync or the web app. Desktop-only users’ novels live on their own machines. Your writing is yours: we do not read it, sell it, share it, or use it to train AI models.
Billing
Payments are processed by Stripe. We store your subscription status and a Stripe customer reference; your card number never touches our servers. Stripe’s handling of your data is covered by Stripe’s privacy policy.
Usage information
We collect aggregate, privacy-respecting site analytics (Plausible, which uses no cookies and no cross-site tracking) and product usage events (Segment) to understand which features matter. We log errors and basic request information to keep the service running.
How we use it
To provide the service: sync, backups, sharing, billing.
To send transactional email (receipts, account changes, writing progress summaries you opt into), delivered via SendGrid.
To improve the product, using aggregate usage data.
To credit referrals: if you arrive through an affiliate link, our referral partner (Rewardful) records that referral.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep you signed in, to remember which NovelPad product you last used, and to remember a promo code you arrived with. Our analytics (Plausible) is cookieless.
Retention & deletion
Your content is retained while your account exists, including after a subscription lapses, your novels stay readable and exportable. You can delete your account and its data by contacting [email protected].
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. Email us and we’ll honor them. Exporting of your novels is built into the product.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and note the date below. Material changes will be announced by email.
